06 Tactics To Get More Viewers To Your Twitch Streams

Many streamers ask the same question again and again: “How to gain more active viewers on Twitch?”

If you’ve ever tried to pursue a career as a Twitch streamer, you know how difficult it is to break through the barrier of rapid growth. Usually, you have a dozen loyal followers and that’s enough to gain a lot of Twitch views. However, there are things you can do to change this situation.

Several factors affect the popularity of your Twitch channel. Yes, the total number of subscribers has the biggest influence, but it is not the most important and certainly not the only one.

In addition to the total number of followers, you need a fanatical core of followers whose most important characteristic is not numbers but engagement. Through your regular activities and genuine support, you will attract new community members AND build a higher level of support among those who consider themselves true fans.

Here we share some tips and tricks on how to get more viewers on Twitch so you can grow both aspects of your follower base.

If you follow these rules, you’ll see your Twitch grow before you can even say “live boss.”

How to gain more active viewers on Twitch in 2023

1. Play with many viewers and few streamers

If you are looking for a game to stream and are trying to attract new viewers, you should stream a game that has a reasonable number of viewers and a limited number of streamers.

That’s why I recommend streaming games that get you into the top 15 or top 20. If the game is streamed to more than 20 people and has more viewers than you, you are less likely to get noticed.

2. Post on TikTok

TikTok is a great way to get LOTS of views. Short videos are consumed quickly and are very easy to distribute. The more views a TikTok video gets, the more likely someone is to visit your feed.

Create entertaining content that encourages people to visit your Twitch stream. Your videos don’t have to be great to be watched either. Check out my TikTok and see how many views my simple videos generate.

3. Stream together to build an audience

One way to leverage the full network of connections you build with other streamers is to connect with them and stream together. To do this, you need to find one or more streamers who want to play with you. Both stream separately, but when they play together, each viewer has the opportunity to learn more about the other streamer’s personality.

This also helps break up any dead air time you may have filled with friendly banter between your new streaming partner, making your stream more enjoyable for viewers. The best way to deal with it:

  • Find streamers playing the same game with a similar audience.
  • Create a list and save it in an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Work with them.
  • Ask them to broadcast together AFTER the relationship is established

This is a great way to get your name out there and grow your audience while also helping other streamers by sharing with your audience.

4. Conversation during the broadcast

You may be introverted by nature, but unfortunately, if you want to be a gamer on Twitch, you’ll have to bring out your extroverted side, even if only when you stream on Twitch.

You have to show courage and at least express what you think about your game; It means that you really want to play and that you’re excited to do it in front of people who want to see you play.

Conversations while streaming are extremely important, especially when people are watching your shows live.

If you sit there and say nothing and play your game, no one is going to want to sit there because no one wants to sit there and look at someone sitting there.

Remember: People watch your Twitch streams because they want to enjoy it.

They want to communicate and talk to you as a streamer. So if you don’t entertain them and try to build relationships through your Twitch streams, you have little chance of retaining people.

To practice, talk about what you’ll do during the game before you go live.

5. Limit yourself to one game

If you want to expand your stream, it’s best to stick with one game at a time. This helps build a community but also helps create content on other platforms (which you should do). Other platforms’ algorithms know what people are looking for, but if you create content without a real focus, the algorithms won’t know who to show your content to, hindering your growth.

So when you’re starting out, pick a game you like, figure out what type of content is appropriate for that game, and then build your feed and content around that game.

6. Cross-promote your social media

The content you share on social media is more likely to be successful and go viral if it generates high engagement from your audience. The more likes, shares, comments, and views you get, the more likely the social media platform is to share them with new people and grow your audience. This means you want to spread the word on other social media platforms you are connected to.

Work:

  • Include all of your social media platforms in your Twitch description.
  • Mention your social networks when streaming (you will see Ninja do this too)
  • Post updated content on your social media platform to follow your pages on other applications.
  • Share native content across platforms.

Most people have accounts on multiple platforms. So let them decide how they want to pursue you. Remind them of the options available so they can easily find your content.
