The most effective way to draw a bug: we should roll it all!

Stage 1

We will explicitly draw a pleading mantis bug for this help on the most efficient method of drawing a bug. There are several awesome bugs out there, but this has to be one of the newest! To start this help, we will look at the head and the beginning of the body.

This insect has a tiny head with huge eyes that are round along the edges. You can start by drawing these two eyes as little round shapes. Then, we’ll use some awesome lines to draw the intricacies of the head and the face between those eyes. Some of these subtleties will incorporate a round shape with a list of lines between them. Draw the long, thin antennae from the head and the body’s highest point to modify this step.

Step 2: Next, start drawing the main legs of the insect

In this second part of the help, we will add the two initial legs for your bug drawing. Those legs look like arms, and their appearance gave the begging mantis its name because that’s exactly what it looks like! Three unique segments attract these legs. Each segment has a smooth side you can draw with a slightly bent line, but the opposite side will have a more prickly line for the other edge. The main section will be medium length, while the middle section will be the longest. Then there will be a short portion towards the end that has a difficult piece at the end. We’re ready to go as long as you’ve drawn these legs exactly as they appear in the reference image.

Step 3: Draw the next part of the body.

Currently, we can continue with the belly of the body in this step of our help on the most effective method of drawing a bug. This waistline will be made up of a bunch of smaller segments that are associated with each other. Next, at this point, we’re going to draw two more legs, which look a lot more like what one might imagine as insect legs than the first ones! They will also be attracted to at least a few bits, the first two being short and stubby. So the remaining segments will be long and skinny, giving those legs a much longer overall length.

Step 4: Now continue to draw a larger amount of the error

We will continue to develop the body of the Praying Mantis for this stage of your insect drawing. To do this, we will continue expanding it in the opposite direction and draw the wings on top of the body. These wings will be drawn as a few thin segments that interact with each other. There are a variety of sections throughout this bug! A gap will be left at the back of the body, but we’ll fill it up in no time.

Step 5: Refine Your Bug Drawing

This step of our help on the most effective way to draw an insect will relate to polishing the draw to prepare you for the last step, where you will vary it. To begin with, we will polish the last segment of the body. Essentially continue to expand the wing segments and underside of the insect in reverse as you did. Later we will add more sets of long, light legs, which will be the longest of this insect’s many legs. Once you’ve polished these components, you can move on to the final step!
