How to Draw A Circle

Step 1

Start by drawing a straight vertical line down the center of the paper. The line length should be as long as you want your circle shape.

Also, use a ruler if you need help drawing straight lines quickly and easily.

Remember to use light strokes when drawing these lines. Don’t press too hard with the pencil to easily erase these lines later if you don’t need them.

Step 2

Draw a horizontal stripe crossing with the vertical stripe we drew in the previous step. These two lines enclose the length and width of the circular shape.

At this point, these two stripes should now form a crisscross pattern.

Step 3

Draw a diagonal line between the top vertical and horizontal lines on the left. The diagonal length should be half the length of the vertical or horizontal line.

Step 4

Repeat the previous action on the lower left flank of the crisscross pattern. This forms another diagonal line between the left and bottom vertical lines.

Remember that this diagonal line should be the same length as the first one we drew in the previous step.

Step 5

Draw another diagonal line between the right horizontal line and the bottom vertical line. This diagonal line should line up with the top left line.

Therefore, it should form a full-length diagonal line running from the top left side to the bottom right side of the crisscross pattern.

Step 6

Draw another diagonal line between the top and right vertical lines. This line should align with the bottom left line like the other diagonal line.

At this point, a horizontal line, a vertical line, and two diagonal lines should intersect. This completes the guidelines for the perfect circle.

Step 7

The purpose of the multiple intersecting lines we drew in the previous steps is to assist you in outlining a perfect circle shape.

This will also ensure that the circle is proportional and symmetrical.

In this step, we will draw a circle using the endpoints of the line as a guide. Start at the top and drag from one endpoint to the other until the circle is halfway through.

Step 8

Trace the other half of the circle on the right side, completing the shape of the circle.

As you can see in the figure, the perfect circle is finally complete!

Step 9

Now that we have successfully drawn a perfect circle, we no longer need the reference lines inside the circle.

Remove these lines by cleaning up the circle shape with an eraser. This also helps keep your drawing neat.

Be careful while erasing the guides; you don’t want to erase part of the circle accidentally.

After drawing a perfect circle, it’s finally time for the most exciting part: colouring your drawing!

This is where you can show off your artistic skills, specifically your ability to mix and match different colours.

As you can see in the picture, we kept the colours light and simple. We used a bright yellow to colour the entire circle shape.

Feel free to use any colour you like! You can even use more than one colour to create a multicoloured circle shape! It all depends on you. After all, it’s your work of art!
